Engineering Leadership & Cloud Architecture

I am Arnaud Pouppeville—a Director of IT and Software/Data Architect based in Louisville, Kentucky. With over 14 years of experience, including deep collaboration with Microsoft engineering teams, my focus is on Technical Strategy that scales without losing sight of the underlying codebase.

I believe that the most resilient platforms aren't built on spreadsheets alone, but through a deep, lived understanding of the architecture.

🏗️ Architectural Impact & Strategy

My perspective is shaped by a "hands-on" philosophy: I believe an architect’s vision is most effective when it remains rooted in the reality of the execution. I specialize in untangling legacy complexity and building the kind of scalable systems that give a business the confidence to move faster.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Enterprise Modernization: I recently led the digital transformation of a decades-old SQL monolith into a cloud-native ecosystem using AKS and Databricks Delta Lake. By decoupling compute from storage, we slashed data processing latency by 90% while supporting over 1,000 distinct enterprise tenants.
  • Secure Data Integration: I specialize in solving complex data silo problems for Fortune 500 groups, ensuring high-volume data is integrated into secure, actionable reporting environments via Snowflake.
  • Architectural Patterns: I lean heavily on Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS to manage complexity in legacy modernization and ensure business alignment.

🛠️ The Stack & R&D

While I focus on high-level strategy, I stay active in the modern ecosystem to ensure my architectural decisions are grounded in current best practices.

  • Current Active Stack: C#, .NET 9, PySpark, Azure (AKS & Functions), Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Current R&D: I am currently building immutable Disaster Recovery environments via Terraform and exploring multi-cloud resilience strategies to effectively mitigate vendor lock-in.

✍️ On This Blog

I started this blog to share "problem-solution" insights from the field. You won't find generic tutorials here. Instead, I document the real-world trade-offs of architectural decisions—from optimizing ETL performance with Z-Order to the strategic implementation of Medallion Architectures.

My goal is to provide senior-level guidance for navigating modern cloud and data challenges, focusing on reducing complexity and managing risk.
